From Vision to Sanctuary: Behind the Scenes of the 3rd Annual Bay Area Mass Choir Concert

There are projects you complete, and then there are projects that complete you. The 3rd Annual Bay Area Mass Choir Concert, held on March 28th, 2026 at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, was the latter.

This was my third consecutive year supporting this event, and watching something grow from its first iteration to its third is one of the quiet privileges of doing this work. Each year, the vision gets clearer, the execution gets sharper, and the impact gets deeper. This year was no different.

In a world that can feel increasingly divided, that kind of intentional unity is not just beautiful, it's countercultural in the best possible way. And it was my honor, once again, to help amplify that vision.

A Vision Rooted in Unity

The Bay Area Mass Choir was born out of a powerful vision held by Dr. Rachelle Rogers Ard and La Nell Martin: to create a multi-cultural, multi-denominational, multi-ethnic community choir open to anyone with a desire and a love for singing 90's gospel music.

What DTM Brought to the dream

My role this year centered on event content creation, a category of work that lives at the intersection of strategy, storytelling, and technical execution. Specifically, I delivered:

  • Promotional videos leading up to the concert to build anticipation and drive attendance

  • Digital flyers designed to capture attention and communicate the spirit of the event

  • An event landing page with registration, giving attendees a seamless and professional experience from the moment they discover the concert

  • Videography and long-form video editing for YouTube, capturing the concert in a way that extends its reach far beyond the walls of the sanctuary

Each piece was crafted with intention and to invite people into something meaningful before they ever walked through the door.

A Personal Highlight: Growing the Craft

Every project teaches you something. This one pushed me creatively in ways I hadn't fully anticipated.

One of my personal highlights was the editing work I was able to do on the video capturing the prayer delivered by Pastor Rami Pouncey of Greater Cooper AME Zion Church. There were specific techniques I had been wanting to explore, and the material gave me the opportunity to try them. Watching that vision come together, and come together beautifully, was one of those quiet moments of professional satisfaction that I'll carry with me.

This is what I mean when I say this work is a blessing. It's not just the deliverable. It's the growth that happens in the process of creating it.

Looking Forward

Being trusted to support the Bay Area Mass Choir Concert for three consecutive years is something I do not take lightly. I've watched this event grow, and I believe it will continue to grow. There is something genuinely special happening here, and I am grateful to play even a small role in helping it reach the world.
