My Family Recipes: Recipe Journal
Holds a story
There was a day I found myself craving my grandma’s spaghetti. Not just any spaghetti, but hers, the one she made in a big pot that fed a family of five for a week. As a teenager, I complained about the endless leftovers, but looking back, I realize now what it truly was: a labor of love. Her way of making sure five people had not just food, but nourishment.
Then there was my grandpa’s chicken. He seasoned it with such pride. I remember when he used cinnamon one time, and we had to hear for weeks about how a pastor complimented his chicken. That recipe was passed down from his family.
Now that they’ve both transitioned home, I find myself in the tender reality that I’ll never have that spaghetti or that chicken again. Yes, I can recreate them in my own way, but it will never taste exactly like theirs. And that’s when the idea came to me: what if families had a way to preserve those recipes, those traditions, so they could live on long after the hands that created them?
That is why I created My Family Recipes Journal, a place for families to capture not just ingredients and instructions, but the love, the memories, the stories, and the heritage behind every dish. A journal where grandchildren, and even their grandchildren’s children, can open its pages and feel the care, nourishment, and legacy passed down through generations.
Because food is never just food. It’s memory. It’s a connection. It’s love that lingers long after the meal is over.
